Now that we’re headed towards the heart of summer, people naturally want to get out in the streets and the parks and soak up the summer. While Toronto is known as a huge metropolis with many skyscrapers and a dense and humid downtown core, our slogan is also “a city within a park”, due to our massive network of lush parks that runs through the GTA. People coming from out of town to see the Blue Jays play and visit the CN Tower may not take the time to appreciate the great park spaces, but real Torontonians know: our parks are our hidden gems.
Feet First Clinic is located in the heart of Bloor West Village in the west end of the city, near the famed High Park, with its 400 acres of trees, sports fields, playgrounds and dedicated dog zones. Being walking enthusiasts ourselves, we really appreciate working in close proximity to the biggest park in the city. Because it covers such a large expanse, you could go for a different walk in the same park every day of the year!
At our state-of-the-art clinic, helping patients walk comfortably and diminishing their pain and any issues they may be self-conscious about are our top priorities. A huge portion of the population lives with pain and warts, athlete’s foot, or any number of conditions that may be sensitive or embarrassing to bring up. These issues can not only cause psychological unease amongst patients, it may also prevent them from being able to walk comfortably, depriving them of a crucial source of summertime enjoyment and exercise.
Our staff of foot specialists are consummate professionals, and have a knack for making our customers feel comfortable having their feet examined and diagnosed – if you need a wart removed but aren’t sure where to turn, come see us and we’ll have you living wart free in no time!
Furthermore, if you have a problem with your gait that has led to a physical imbalance, knee or back-pain, come see us for a consultation and we can use our video gait analysis technology to get to the root of the problem and make you some custom orthotics for your unique feet and movement patterns if neccessary. Often excruciating shooting pain in the heel requires plantar fasciitis treatment in Toronto and the GTA to start the healing process and free you up to take a nice, meandering walk in the park!
We’ve already mentioned High Park as a great destination, but here are a few more suggestions for places you may want to stroll in Toronto:
Rosedale Ravine: While Rosedale is mostly known for its palatial houses and abundance of wealth, the network of ravine paths beneath the luxurious neighborhoods is a wonderful place to take a long walk on your own or with your friends or loved one. The tree canopy is extremely dense, so even on hot days you will be covered by the shade. The Evergreen Brickworks (formerly the Don Valley Brickworks) is an urban hipster’s dream come true, with a bike shop, café and restaurant set against a gorgeous nature reserve populated by ducks, turtles, fish and birds of all kind!
Consider fixing up your gait and investing in a great pair of walking shoes this summer, the parks of the city beckon! We’ll continue our exploration of Toronto parks on the blog shortly, so stay tuned!
